Via Zero Tolerance Policies

Via has a strict Zero Tolerance Policy toward any drug or alcohol use, physical violence, sexual assault, verbal or sexual harassment, threatening behavior, and discriminatory behavior.

As part of the Via community, we’re all committed to providing a safe, shared environment for our members and Driver Partners. Because of this, we ask that all members of the Via Community adhere to our policies regarding zero-tolerance behavior.

Here are a few tips to make sure you can avoid unsafe or inappropriate situations as a Via Driver Partner:

  • Avoid personal questions

While friendly and accommodating conversation is encouraged, someone’s relationship status, gender identity or sexual orientation is not an acceptable topic for conversation.

  • Keep conversation light

Conversations, music or radio programs that contain explicit language can be offensive and make people feel uncomfortable, as can comments on someone’s physical appearance (even if it is a compliment).

  • Diffuse difficult situations

Threats or acts of violence, sexual harassment or sexual assault by any member of the Via community is not tolerated, whether by a passenger or a driver. Need assistance? Alert the Via Operations Team by texting 762-47 or calling us at 315-623-4395

  • Know when to call for help

If you feel your safety is immediately threatened or you or one of your passengers are in an emergency situation, first dial 911.

Via Discrimination Policy

Via does not tolerate discrimination of any kind against members or our driver partners on the basis of race, national origin, religion, gender, physical or mental disability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Additionally, Via does not tolerate discrimination of any kind against service animals.

Members or driver partners who violate Via’s anti-discrimination policies may lose access to the Via platform.

If you believe that you have been subject to discrimination by a Via member, please contact Via Operations with a call or text, or email us at nycdrivers@ridewithvia.com.

Parking Tickets & Traffic Violations

Please remember that Via is not responsible for any parking tickets, speeding tickets, or other traffic violations Driver Partners incur while driving with the Via System.

Tips for avoiding tickets:

Traffic Violations & Speeding Tickets:

Stay within speed limit and avoid restricted turns. Your route should never take you through a restricted turn, but if it does please re-route and then let us know about the new turn restriction so we can correct it in our system.

Parking Tickets:

At Terminals (Blue Mode): if you can’t wait at the Terminal, please circle around the block. If this proves to be a challenge, call us and we will figure out how to move your Terminal.

At Pickups: If you are unable to wait at Pickup spot please move down the street or circle around the block and let the Via Operations Team know so we can inform your rider.

Policy for carseats and children in a Via

Children are welcome in a Via! We strongly encourage all parents to bring a car seat or booster seat where appropriate. Via Driver Partners do not have to provide car seats or booster seats. However, Driver Partners are required to transport infants in a carseat and, if there is no carseat, the Driver Partner is providing service at their own risk.

Please note that all children, regardless of age, must be marked as an additional passenger.
